Mood: Pleasantly chilled!
12th November 2005
Windsurfing: Ythan Estuary, Aberdeen
Wind Direction: WSW turning NW
Wind Stength: 15-25mph
Surf / Sea State: Flat
Air Temperature: Chilly
Sea Temperature: Chilly
Weather: Dry
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

First time out with the 6.3m Gun Target. Nicely powered up to start with, and fantastic speed runs right along the estuary, with little or no chop - particularly close in to the golf course. The sail seemed to be working well, and only needed a few tweaks to find a good set for the conditions. The wind gradually increased, and became incredibly gusty as it swung round to the NW the worst direction for this part of the estuary, as it has to come right across the village / buildings. It wasn't long before there were quite a lot of random catapaults going on by the sailors that were out - mostly because of big gusts hitting after a lull. I managed a corker and gave myself a deadleg on the mast - still stiff after 3 days. Called it a day after this, but others stayed out for another hour or so. All in all, a good hour and a half sailing, followed by another hour or so in less than ideal conditions.
